About Us

Seacoast Credit Union was started in 1966 when the credit union's founder, Peter Brooks, had a vision to provide a cooperative means of saving and lending to the employees at SAU #21 school district. Mr. Brooks and the members of the first Board of Directors each purchased shares, and thus began the Seacoast Credit Union with the first location being an office in the SAU Office.

From these humble beginnings the credit union grew steadily, becoming a full service institution and eventually moving to their current location at 887 Lafayette Road in Hampton. During this time, the credit union's charter was expanded to serve various business groups in the Seacoast area.

Shortly after this, in January 1997, the Credit Union converted their charter from Federal to State in order to maintain the ability to add new members from their existing member groups. Today, anyone living or working within 25 miles of a Seacoast Credit Union branch is eligible for membership.

2004 was an exciting year for Seacoast CU. PEA Credit Union located in Exeter, merged with Seacoast CU.  PEA Credit Union, established in 1969, served the needs of the employees and family members of Phillips Exeter Academy.  This merger of 2 strong, viable, and member oriented credit unions has proven to be a perfect fit.  The merger enables us to better serve our members in the greater Exeter area with more services and the construction of a full service branch conveniently located at 109 Epping Road in Exeter.

Seacoast Credit Union has expanded and grown in size and in the number of services during our 40 year history, yet one thing has remained constant: the vision to be not the largest, but the best credit union we could be. Seacoast Credit Union is proud to serve our members as we continuously strive to provide the best financial services to our members and to deliver these products in the most convenient ways possible.
